No economic activity shall overrule our consideration for human health, safety at our sites and concern for the environment. The safety of people and operations, environmental protection, customer satisfaction and listening to stakeholders are core concerns.

Industrial hygiene, employee health and product quality are absolute priorities.

In line with this, the following three health-related focuses are key aspects of our operations:

  • Workplace Health for our employees and service providers;
  • Health and the Environment, for people living and working near our facilities or likely to be exposed to them;
  • Quality Policy, for our customers throughout the life cycle of our products.

TPGL's high standards of operation are achieved by pursuing key actions documented in the HSEQ Charter, Quality Policy and Objectives.

TPGL is ISO9001:2008 certified. Our Bitumen Plant in Takoradi is International Small Site Safety Rating System (ISSSRS) certified.

Our ultramodern laboratory, also situated at the Tarkwa mining depot, adds to the pursuit of delivering top-quality fuels and lubricants for the mining companies that we serve.

In response to the risks associated with our activities, TPGL has implemented risk prevention and crises management systems at all its operational sites with trained personnel to handle the most complex of situations. The company also brings together front-line teams and specialists across all phases in managing such risks.

These processes are built on industrial risk analysis which involves the following:

  • Introducing standards that are applicable across the board;
  • Deploying an organization aligned with the risk management system;
  • Verifying correct application of the system following risk assessments. This verification takes the form of self-assessment and internal and external inspections and audits.

Road transportation safety is also an absolute priority, especially where hazardous materials are involved.

Appropriate measures, technical and organizational tools are implemented to manage transportation-related risks.

These include:

  • Road transportation improvement program (PATROM);
  • Transportation Management System;
  • General Guidelines for Driving Light Vehicles and BOVs.

The impact of our activities on the environment and the communities we operate in, as well as on our products and services, is routinely analyzed. Solutions are sought to manage the risks involved, and all available resources are deployed to mitigate their impact.

Crises management and response procedures have been provided at all our sites to cater for all emergencies.

A dedicated crises management contact number has been registered for all staff, contractors, and visitors to all our sites in case of an emergency. The contact is also visible at all points at our operational sites for easy access.

In addition, the Ghana Police and Ghana National Fire Service have also been identified and partnered as key players in managing crises.
