Total Petroleum Ghana marks its significant operations on the occasion of Bastille Day

Total Petroleum Ghana Limited (“Total”) joins all French Nationals to celebrate the French National Day popularly known as “Bastille Day” and their trade ties with Ghana.

Total Petroleum Ghana as a French company is proud to have been creating and delivering better energy options to its cherished customers throughout Ghana for well over 60 years now.

Total Petroleum Ghana is part of the Total Group, the fourth largest publicly traded integrated international Oil and Gas Company in the World and a key player in the Petroleum Downstream Industry in Ghana.

As an Oil Marketing Company, Total has a wide retail network coverage of 241 service stations across the ten regions of Ghana. Aside from selling quality fuel, lubricants and car care products, the Company provides a wide range of services to various industries, including Aviation, Bitumen and Mining Industries.

 

  • Quality products and Innovation

Total has achieved its leadership position through regular and significant investments and the consistent implementation of high quality and safety standards resulting in its ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2016 - the first Oil Marketing Company in Ghana to have attained this quality certification.

The vision to serve cherished its customers with quality products motivated the Company to come up with well researched products such as the Excellium range of fuels to protect vehicle engines and to assist vehicle owners and drivers manage their fuel consumption. Other recent products introduced on the market include the Total Quartz INEO MC3 5W30 and Total Quartz INEO Long Life 5W30 which meets the US Specification API, the European specification ACEA C3 and the Euro V environmental standards all of which are approved by major Automotive Manufacturers.

Investing in the Ghanaian economy is vital as 70% of Total lubricants are produced locally with 100% packaging material of this percentage made locally.

 

  • Employment creation

Through the Company’s operations, it continues to make a significant contribution to the employment of locals. About 3,000 Ghanaians in different parts of the country have gained employment through the widespread activities of the Company. Total’s investments in the production of lubricants through the Tema Lube Oil Company Limited (TLOC) have provided employment opportunities in and around the Tema Metropolis.

The Company takes pride in the fact that 99 % of its staff body are Ghanaians who are contributing to the success story of Total’s operations in Ghana.

To recruit the talent needed tomorrow, Total has forged partnerships with Ghanaian Universities such as Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) and University of Cape Coast (UCC) from where frequent interns are taken in and groomed to give them the experience and the know-how.

The recent Young Graduate Programme of Total was introduced to induct recent Ghanaian graduates and offer them professional mentoring and international exposure with other experts in the downstream sector, thereby, building a sustainable workforce for the country.

 

  • Social interventions

As part of the Company’s contribution towards the improvement of the Ghanaian society, Total introduced an innovative programme such as the ‘Startupper by Total challenge’ which supports entrepreneurship. The 2016 edition funded three winning projects to the tune of 160,000Ghc which offered visibility and mentoring support to sustain these startups. This created a ripple effect of job creation and better livelihood.

Other core initiatives undertaken by Total are the Total Safety Caravan and Safety Cube Programs which provides a yearly platform for the Company, in collaboration with Government Safety Agencies, to interact with Communities on Safety Awareness through practical demonstrations, talks and donations of Safety Tool Kits. The Total Safety Cube Program which was undertaken in Takoradi and in Kumasi benefited about 12,000 school pupils.

The Company also supports other projects in the areas of health, education, sports, and entrepreneurship.
